Since November of 2013, Caracas’ residents are enjoying free wireless internet access in Diego Ibarra and El Venezolano squares, and by late 2014 the city administration expects to offer free wireless internet access in all of the city’s public spaces through 75 hotspots, said the Clerk in charge of Libertador City Hall’s Information Technology Directorate.
This Project to be developed in 22 parishes of the capital city involves a Bs. 20-million initial investment. He stated there would be internet access in places such as El Calvario Park, Sabana Grande Boulevard, 23 de Enero parish and, overall, in the areas encompassed in the 1,600,000m2 the City Hall has recovered for its residents’ leisure and recreation.
According to the source, this Wi-Fi service would offer a browsing speed of three megabytes per second in each one of these spots.
