On September, 2013 Apple launched its iPhone 5S, the first smartphone with a fingerprint sensor, improving safety and ease of use. According to Ericsson, the world’s leading manufacturer of mobile networks, in its report, “a total of 74% of users think biometric phones will be the dominating trend in 2014″.
The broadest use of biometric technology will be good news for Swedish firms Fingerprint Cards and Precise Biometrics, two important providers in this field. Fingerprint manufactures sensors while Precise Biometrics creates software for such sensors.
The executive president of Fingerprint assured they were expecting 7 or 8 percent of the world’s main Smartphone manufacturers, including Samsung, would launch mobile devices using this technology in 2014. Ericsson interviewed over 100,000 people in over 40 countries for the survey.
