20 parishes (seven states: Capital District, Lara, Miranda, Carabobo, Guárico, Monagas and Sucre) were the focal points for these crimes, reporting 778. Therefore, the minister announced the reinforcing of the Safe Homeland Plan in these locations.
Petare parish of the Miranda state registered the highest murder rate with 91 cases. Followed by Miguel Peña (Valencia) with 76 murders, then Sucre parish of Caracas (Catia) with 65 crimes, Juan de Villegas of Iribarren municipality in the Lara State with 51 homicides, and fifth in the list was the Plaza Miranda municipality (Guarenas) with 47 murders.
The minister pointed out that the rates of the nation’s main two crime modalities, kidnapping and homicide, were reduced last year. In his opinion, kidnaping decreased 17% and other crimes 51%.
